I didn’t want to cook today. I haven’t been feeling well and cooking just didn’t sound fun, so Adam offered to help me. He flattened out the chicken breasts (with a hammer because we don’t have a tenderizer…) and made the mac and cheese. I finished the chicken, which was surprisingly easy. Pesto, sour cream, and mozzarella mixed together then spread in a thin layer on the chicken. After that you roll up the chicken and dip it in egg then flour. Toss it in the baking dish and cook for about 30 minutes. Super easy. I thought it needed more cheese, Adam agreed and also thought it needed garlic. Dinner turned out much better than I had expected. Tomorrow I’m trying crockpot lasagna, I believe.
This year I’ve decided to teach myself how to cook. I’ve cooked a few things so far. Some of them have been really good, others not so much. I decided I’d start blogging about it so I can look back on it later and see how far I’ve come. This week I’m cooking every night except Saturday, when it’s Adam’s turn.
Today I made broccoli cheese soup in the crockpot. Super easy. I’m definitely going to start using the crockpot more often. I haven’t tried it yet, as Adam isn’t home quite yet, but it smells delicious and appears to have a good consistency. I also made chocolate chip cookies from scratch. It wasn’t hard at all, but I did discover that our gas stove doesn’t heat evenly at all. Some of the cookies were way more done than others depending on their location in the oven. I’ll master that part eventually. The only problem I ran into other than that was burning the back of my finger when I was placing the cookie sheet on the stove to let them cool. It hurts something fierce. The cookies are good though, even the ones that are a little underdone.
I feel pretty accomplished for today. Tomorrow I’ll work, go for a walk with Suzan, and come home to cook pesto mozzarella stuffed chicken. I’m not entirely sure what we’ll be having with it, but I guess I’ll figure it out tomorrow!
I feel pretty accomplished today. Besides the workout, I’ve just been extremely productive and managed to get a much needed nap in. The workout was alright. The exercises are getting easier every time, which makes me happy. I get this weekend off, so I’m gonna hang out with Adam. My next workout will be Sunday.
I forgot to blog yesterday. The workouts yesterday and today were kind of sucky. We’ve been doing the cardio outside and we’ve been using weights for the arm stuff. My arms have so little muscle and I’m pretty sore post workout. Tomorrow is abs, legs, and butt again. I’m actually looking forward to it a lot. I feel like those are the areas I’m actually making some progress in. Yay me!
I’m really tired today, so this workout sucked. I mean, I feel good now that it’s over, but I hated it during. We started out our cardio by going up and town the stairs…that didn’t last long, but we tried. We finished it out by walking up and down the 2nd floor hallway. We did lunges, crunches, and squats. I’m gonna be sore tomorrow. Tomorrow shouldn’t be terrible though since it’s arms and chest.
Mandi and I decided to move our Friday workouts to Sundays, since that works better for us. We decided to do Monday’s workout (Day 1) again today and it wasn’t quite as bad this time. I was super excited about that. Hopefully this keeps progressing in this manner.
I was absolutely dreading today’s workout. It was all about abs, butt, and legs and I was still sore this morning. It wasn’t near as bad as I expected. We decided to do the exercises first, then do the 20 minutes of cardio. We did 30 donkeys (15 per leg), 15 squats, 20 pelvic lifts, and 40 oblique twists (20 per side). The oblique twists were the worst and the pelvic lifts were harder than I expected them to be. The cardio seemed to take a lot longer than usual though since we did it after. Tomorrow we get to do whatever we feel was our weakest workout. I think we’re going to do Tuesdays arms and chest workout, this time with some sort of weights.
I’ve done a pretty good job so far with my eating habits and not snacking quite as much. I’ve definitely been drinking less soda as well. Today’s workout was easy. It was back and shoulders…still not losing weights. Mandi and I decided baby steps are best. Next week we’ll start using something as weights, probably just soup cans to begin with. I’m still sore from Monday’s butt, abs, and legs workout and that’s what’s up for tomorrow. It’s different exercises though. Hopefully it won’t be as bad as I’m anticipating.
Day 2 wasn’t near as bad. Cardio consisted of walking up and down the 3rd floor hallway today. Eventually we’ll graduate to stairs…maybe next week. Today was all about arms and chest and we didn’t have weights, so we did what we could. We did layday pushups because I’m incapable of doing regular ones. The other things we did were chest presses, chair dips and bicep curls. Gross, but not terrible. Next time we’re using weights for sure. Tomorrow is all about the back and shoulders.
Okay. Mandi and I decided to work out today when we got back from Quincy. 20 minutes of cardio became skipping up and down the hallway for 1 minute (it’s hard…just saying) and then walking briskly for the next 19 minutes. After that we went to the bunn room and did 20 squats. I hate squats. I don’t have much in the way of leg muscle and I’m terrible at them. I’m also terrible at lunges, of which we did 20. Those were the worst part of the workout. The 25 dead lifts weren’t too bad. The last two things we did were 40 crunches and 40 reverse curls. My abs could have killed me, but hopefully all of this will get easier as I go. Tomorrow we work on arms and chest. Oh goodness…
